There was a lot going on behind the scenes to create Miss Lilly Gets Boned.

Playwright, Bekah Brunstetter, was wonderfully involved, making changes to her script for our production. We commissioned a life-size elephant puppet from puppet designer Sean Cawelti and worked with puppet master Julia Garcia Combs to bring it, Harold, to life. We created interstitial shadow puppet pieces and hired puppet designer Mark Royston for those.

It was a busy and fulfilling production experience. Thank you to artistic director/producer John Perrin Flynn for trusting me to deliver this audacious piece of theatre to Los Angeles audiences. And thank you to Ojai Playwright Conference’s resident dramaturge, Chris Breyer, who introduced me to the play and to Bekah’s work in 2015.
