As prolific playwright and This Is Us writer/producer Bekah Brunstetter’s The Cake is being announced as part of the seasons of so many theatres across the country, I am starting preproduction for the west coast premiere of Bekah’s Miss Lilly Gets Boned, set for Rogue Machine.
One of the main characters in Miss Lilly is an angry adolescent elephant (he’s pissed because his mother and father were poached while he watched). Bringing an animal to life on the stage is new territory for me, so research and tests are in order.
Thank you producer John Flynn for the support. Thanks to Ojai Playwright Conference dramaturge Chris Breyer, who introduced me to the play, and to Bekah’s work in 2015.
